Kwame is the inspiration for its motto, “Ut Vitam Habeant” which, translated into English, means “That They May Have Life”, reflecting motivation, vision and commitment.

The vision of MCU is “to become a world-class teaching and research university, educating for life and addressing the challenges facing contemporary society”.

Its mission is “to train and prepare a new generation of graduates in body, mind and spirit, for the transformation of society”.

As a university college, MCU is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. It is currently accredited by the National Accreditation Board as a research and teaching institution to run undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Law and Health Sciences.

MCU has two campuses: the main campus at Ayebuso, Larteh-Akwapim in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region; and the city campus, which is located in the Readwide Building in Kanda, Accra.

MCU is the first private tertiary institution in Ghana offering the Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and Master of Laws (LLM) programmes. The MCU Faculty of Laws aims to train a new generation of lawyers fired with a sense of duty to the country, their clients and themselves. The Faculty boasts of accomplished academic staff who are excellent lecturers and exemplary mentors who invest their time and energy in the lives of their students.

The MCU School of Medical and Health Sciences currently offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in public health and health services management. Although in its infant stages, the School is already making strides in the training of public health practitioners and health services managers. MCU’s School of Medical and Health Sciences’ strength lies in having seasoned practitioners with substantial experience in the field to provide relevant and practical instructions in response to the goals and objectives of the programmes. In the very near future, additional programmes will be running in the School to include midwifery, general nursing, mental health nursing, medical laboratory science and physician assistant studies.

In addition to the current faculties, programmes in Business, Social Sciences and Medicine are also being developed to meet the pressing demands of tertiary education in Ghana. In achieving our vision and mission therefore, MCU intends to become an institution of excellence by providing cutting edge research, relevant teaching and learning and proactive extension activities. Consequently, MCU will become an institution of first choice for both staff and students.
